FumaneIn an old road protected by two walls of rocks is located Marega, historic district of Fumane where the Azienda Agricola Monte dei Ragni resides. During ancient times, scene of innumerous battles, the fort of a well traditional family and the Austrian domination of the hill were conquered by one of the Ragni ancestors, and during that time was when Monte dei Ragni appeared. A bond ancient and subterranean location which since 1900, thanks to the vision of the Holy Ragni and their desire to specialize in the production of grapes that really would make a difference in the wine market the Monte dei Ragni was born. Zeno Zignoli, the wine maker and owner of Monte dei Ragni continued the wine evolution in the course of decades thanks to the acquisition of additional land in the locality of Mazzurega, just north. All the fields are full of sweet hills, sunny all day long, and perfect for growing screw. Their work from the cultivation and the limited production is a niche of excellence. With the help of Fabio Bigolin Umberto Menini, two enthusiast’s winemakers, Ragni had planted five thousand strains per hectare of high quality grape varieties, some restored in its business from very old vines. The controlling in a daily basis of the earth, the grapes and the cellar are identical since the beginning of his journey – loving and care of each single grape: Light soft pressing, a wise use of wood and almost a total exclusion of mechanical pumping systems. We really felt in love for their history, their grapes and the beautiful valley, combined with the stubbornness of Zeno that has a poetic and philosophical vision of all out from the bottling that offers not only an extraordinary wine such as Valpolicella Superiore DOC, Ripasso Della Valpolicella DOC, and his jewel Amarone Classico Superiore DOC, but also an extraordinary example of coherence and humanity.

San Pietro in CarianoThe story of the Manara winery is like the story of other small wine producers in the Valpolicella Classico area. It was established in 1950 and the owners have been running it for three generations, maintaining local wine-making traditions with growing experience and passion. The progressive development that took place in the last few years was surely due to the new generation represented by the three brothers Lorenzo, Fabio and Giovanni Manara, who directly follow the entire production and marketing process. The enlargement of the winery, with the new and practical wine cellar, facilitates and optimizes the different phases of the production. Moreover it allows to obtain quality wines maintaining their typicality unchanged. The approximately 11 hectares of vineyard constituing the winery are situated in the hilly zone of the Valpolicella Classico region, precisely in the localities of San Pietro in Cariano, Negrar and Marano di Valpolicella. Wine is produced respecting entirely the characteristics of the "terroir", in order to create recognizable wines. This is why grapes from different harvest zones are vinified separately, such as the grapes for the Valpolicella Ripasso, Amarone Della Valpolicella, Recioto Della Valpolicella, Rosso Del Veneto among others.
